Getting there. Bhutan Airlines flies non-stop Bangkok (BKK) to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (CCU) in about 2 hours 45 minutes, with one-way fares from THB 10,325 including taxes. Kolkata is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Bangkok, and the airport is about 17 km from the city centre — allow 45–60 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Checked baggage is 20 kg in Economy and 30 kg in Business, plus 7 kg cabin — confirmed at booking. Kolkata is also the connecting hub for many Bhutan Airlines services onward to Paro (PBH).
Visa and entry. Most visitors need an Indian visa before travel. Travellers from many countries, including Thailand, can apply for an e-Tourist Visa online — allow several working days for processing.
Money and language. The Indian Rupee (INR) is the local currency. ATMs are widely available and cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shops in central Kolkata. Bengali is the local language; Hindi and English are widely understood.
