Bulky / Sporting equipment

The following are considered special baggage and will be charged at special rates.

 

Golf Equipment:

  • 1 golf bag containing not more than 14 golf clubs
  • Maximum of 12 golf balls
  • 1 pair of golf shoes
  • Golf tees
  • Any additional golf sets shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges.

 

Surfboards

Canoes

  • A standard charge of 6kg will be applied on the surfboard if its weight and your other checked baggage exceed the free allowance entitled to you. This is applicable up to a maximum excess of 15kg for the surfboard. Normal excess baggage charges will apply for any excess weight beyond 15kg.

    Example: A passenger traveling on Economy Class and carrying a surfboard.

    • a buoyancy control device
    • a regulator
    • a mask and snorkel
    • a pair of fins
    • a wet suit
    • a weight belt with weights
    • an empty scuba diving tank
  • This special charge is only applicable to one surfboard per customer. Any additional surfboards shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges. The surfboard must be properly packed for transportation.

 

Scuba diving equipment

  • A standard charge of 6kg will be applied on the scuba diving equipment if its weight and your other checked baggage exceed the free allowance entitled to you. This is applicable up to a maximum excess of 15kg for the scuba diving equipment. Normal excess baggage charges will apply for any excess weight beyond 15kg.

    Example: A passenger traveling on Economy Class and carrying scuba diving equipmen

  • This special charge is only applicable to one set of scuba diving equipment per customer.One set of scuba diving equipment is deemed to comprise:

  • Any additional scuba sets shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges.

    For travel to/from the United States, each set of scuba diving equipment will be considered as one piece of luggage under the piece system, and any excess baggage will be charged.

  • A fixed charge of 15 kg will be applied on each canoe carried. This charge is regardless of the amount of checked baggage carried by the customer. The canoe must be properly packed for transportation.

    For travel to/from the United States, a fixed charge equivalent to two charges will be applied on each canoe carried. This charge is regardless of the amount of checked baggage carried by the customer.

 

Ski equipment

    • a pair of skis
    • a pair of ski poles
    • a pair of ski boots
    • a ski mask
      or
    • a snow board with accessories
  • A standard charge of 3kg will be applied on the ski equipment if its weight and your other checked baggage exceed the free allowance entitled to you. This is applicable up to a maximum excess of 15kg for the ski equipment. Normal excess baggage charges will apply for any excess weight beyond 15kg.

    This special charge is only applicable to one set of ski equipment per customer

    A set of ski equipment is deemed to comprise of either:

    Any additional ski equipment/snow-boards shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges.

    For travel to/from the United States, each set of ski equipment will be considered as a piece of luggage under the piece system, and will be charged as such if the customer exceeds his/her free baggage allowance.

 

Bicycles

  • A standard charge of 6kg will be applied on the bicycle if its weight and your other checked baggage exceed the free allowance entitled to you. This is applicable up to a maximum excess of 15kg for the bicycle. Normal excess baggage charges will apply for any excess weight beyond 15kg.

    This special charge is only applicable to one bicycle per customer.  Any additional bicycles shall be charged according to the standard excess baggage charges. The bicycle shall be properly packed for transportation.

Oversized musical instruments

An oversized musical instrument (eg. cello, guitars, etc) can only be carried onboard if you are travelling in Economy Class and if you purchase an extra seat to accommodate it. The musical instrument will be placed on the floor and properly secured by seat belts to the seat frame. Suites, First and Business Class seats do not have accessible seat frames to secure musical instruments on.

The maximum weight and dimension allowable is:

  • Weight: 75 kg
  • Height: 61"
  • Width: 19" (based on armrest to armrest seat width)

 

Note:
A Double Bass is not allowed onboard as it exceeds the height limit set above.
Although guitars are normally less than 7 kg (that is within the cabin weight allowance), it may be considered as oversized due to its (dimensions) ; and may not be allowed in the cabin if no extra seat(s)have been purchased for it.  If you do not plan to purchase an extra seat, your guitar should be packed in a suitable hard case and checked in to avoid damage.
